The status quo is a win-win for us - educated white collars in STEM jobs who work for big international corporations and benefit greatly from globalization (both in jobs and in investments). Given the growing nature of our sectors, more incoming Chinese immigrants generally won't compete our jobs away but will instead make us as a group stronger politically and economically. No change can make this better. Jealousy against your classmates who became super rich in China on the other hand, isn't rational. Fuck them up doesn't help us.
Any direct conflict between the Chinese government and the US government will breed xenophobia directed at Chinese immigrants here. It's only bad news.
Back to alfabeta's point, one incapable of voting for one's own interests doesn't deserve sympathy.
